The regular meeting of the Lee Town Board was held in the Town Hall, and was called to order at 7:31 PM.

 

Present were:  Supervisor John Urtz, Councilmen Kevin Gallagher, Alan Trombley, Harold VanWagenen and Karl Matt.   

 

Also present: Town Attorney, David Rapke.

 

Unable to attend:  Highway Superintendant, Bill Baker

 

The meeting opened with the pledge of allegiance.

 

A motion was made by Alan Trombley, seconded by Kevin Gallagher and carried to dispense with the reading of the minutes of the previous meeting.

There was no old business to discuss.

 

A motion was made by Karl Matt, seconded by Alan Trombley and carried to not enter into agreement with Oneida County for 2014 mowing.

Supervisor Urtz distributed a list of items that need to be addressed in 2014, of which are budgeted.  Mr. Urtz asked councilmen to choose items they would like to chair to assure that work gets completed.  This work includes repairs to the Highway Garage, Town Park and Town Hall.

 

Organizational Meeting

 

A motion was made by Alan Trombley, seconded by Kevin Gallagher and carried to enter into agreement with the Association of Towns for 2014, with a membership fee of $1000.00.

A motion was made by Karl Matt, seconded by Alan Trombley and carried to enter into agreement with Carefree Lawn Service for the 2014 season at a cost of $652.00

A motion was made by Karl Matt, seconded by Alan Trombley and carried to enter into agreement with the Rome Humane Society for 2014 at a cost of $230 per stray dog.

A motion was made by Alan Trombley, seconded by Harold VanWagenen and carried to continue with the following policies as is for 2014:

A motion was made by Karl Matt, seconded by Harold VanWagenen and carried to increase the mileage reimbursement rate from .40 to .50 per mile.

A motion was made by Alan Trombley, seconded by Harold VanWagenen and carried to accept the following appointments for the four year period beginning 01/01/2014 and expiring 12/31/2017, unless otherwise stated.

A motion was made by Karl Matt, seconded by Alan Trombley to have the "Town of Lee" logo put on the biodegradable leaf bags beginning next season.

Councilman Kevin Gallagher notified the Board that he made a request to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission for compensation due to the future disturbance to the Town of Lee for the Hydroelectric Project; Mr. Gallagher suggested the possible donation of something for the Park such as benches or playground equipment.

 

A motion was made by Alan Trombley, seconded by Kevin Gallagher and carried to appoint Harold VanWagenen, who volunteered, to sit on the Highway Safety Committee.

Councilman Karl Matt stated that he would like the Board to have input on electrical decisions in the new batting cage; Mr. Matt will contact Patrick Hetherington to discuss.

 

Councilman Alan Trombley will write up an advertisement for the position of Town Historian so that it can be put in the newspaper.  Mary Centro from the Town of Western has volunteered to help Lee out as needed.

 

A motion was made by Alan Trombley, seconded by Karl Matt and carried to approve and pay the bills.
