October 25, 2011
The Lee Town Board held a Public Hearing on the preliminary 2012 budget.
Present were: Supervisor John Urtz, Councilmen Alan Trombley, Patrick Hetherington and Kevin Gallagher and Karl Matt
Also present: Town Attorney, David Rapke
Deputy Clerk, Gene Gehman - filling in for Town Clerk
The hearing was called to order at 6:05 PM.
Mary Ellen Urtz was present to ask some questions, but had not reviewed the preliminary budget that was available, in order to comment on specific items. She did question if the Town could set aside funds to help fund the food banks in the Town. Supervisor Urtz stated that the County has taken over that area of the budget. Mr. Urtz also reported that the Library portion has been eliminated as they have not successfully submitted for 2011's allowance.
Councilman Kevin Gallagher commented on the "LEE"nopoly games that are being purchased to sell for our 200th Anniversary celebration, which will partially offset the $25,000 that was budgeted.
Ms. Urtz stated that she was not in favor of the Town covering the cost of the 2% tax increase, imposed by the county, for our residents. Her thoughts on this are that there would be no benefit for renters. She also states there is no place to make photocopies or for internet access.
There were no further comments.
A motion was made by Alan Trombley, seconded by Patrick Hetherington and CARRIED to adjourn.
The Public Hearing was adjourned at 6:25 PM.
